Insurance and Bad Faith

Mr. Knudsen successfully litigated an insurance bad faith dispute involving commercial general liability and umbrella policy carriers on behalf of a developer client on a contingent fee basis resulting in a $3.0 million settlement after a Phase I trial in a case that had been rejected by three other law firms.

In March 2012 Mr. Commins and Mr. Knudsen tried a multiparty bad faith case, Smally v. Nationwide Insurance, to a Marin County jury.  They obtained a verdict on behalf of a local business of more than $1.8 million, including $1.2 million in punitive damages, and a judgment of approximately $2.4 million
